Strange facts

60% of people are born with cataracts (don't worry they are very small white spots in the lens and do not affect vision as they never develop).

The bits you can see when looking at a white background are called floaters and are usually the bits of a blood vessel that supplied the centre of the eye with oxygen in the womb.

The cornea (front of the eye) is made up of Six different layers and the retina 10 - don't panic about knowing this for GCSE's!

Babies eyes are blue when they are born, and change to their inherited eye colour gradually over 6months to one year.
